Daf, Spirituality and Peace
There is no human being in this world who does not desire a world filled with peace and harmony. From birth, humans have an innate yearning for peace and harmony. Most individuals are drawn to spirituality at some point in their lives, as it has been shown that spirituality and peace are interconnected.
The culture of Daf and Frame Drum playing is one of the oldest traditions in the world that promotes communal gatherings to express emotions through music. By releasing negativity through every stroke of the drum, we create space for peace and love to fill our hearts and souls. Daf and frame drum lessons are typically half instructional and half spiritual, benefiting both the teacher and student.
If you have ever played a drum, especially the Daf or other frame drums, you may have experienced a sense of calm and love that washes over you after an hour of playing. If you have not yet tried it, I strongly recommend giving it a go. Even listening to recorded music can help you feel a sense of connectivity and compassion.
Perhaps this is why people in remote villages around the world live with compassion for one another and for nature. Music may be the hidden remedy for peace and spirituality for the soul, and the world.
